Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

There was a time when women's health was nearly considered an afterthought in medicine. But today, there has never been a stronger focus on advancing women's healthcare throughout the life cycle.

At Rush North Shore, the mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to provide compassionate, high-level care to the women in our community at every stage of their lives.

Our staff offers comprehensive gynecological and obstetrical services, from routine physical examinations to advanced, multidisciplinary treatment plans for cancer, endometriosis, infertility, and dozens of other conditions.

Recent additions to the department's faculty have brought nationally recognized expertise in the ares of minimally invasive pelvic surgery and menopausal medicine, thereby expanding the clincal capabilities available to patients.

We are particularly proud of our extensive services for new mothers and newborns. Each year, hundreds of happy, healthy newborns are delivered at Rush North Shore. These little ones-and their eager new moms-receive nurturing, individualized care in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Our 10 private labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum (LDPR) suites allow individualized care to new families, with the availability of leading-edge pain control through our anesthesia service on a 24-hour basis. In addition, prenatal education and wellness is a top priority at Rush North Shore.
Our staff offers ongoing classes to expectant parents on such topics as:

  • Prepared Childbirth Classes
  • Infant safety and CPR

We also offer personalized tours of our maternity suites on alternate Sundays of each month at 1:00 p.m.
