Welcome to the Emergency Department

The doctors and nurses in Rush North Shore's Emergency Department are there when you need them.

Our recently renovated $9 million, state-of-the-art Emergency Department is equipped with 17 glass-enclosed private rooms with bedside registration. This new registration system makes the triage process more efficient and a prompt minor care system is poised to reduce long waits for those with less urgent needs.

Because Rush North Shore maintains a Level II Trauma Center, we are able to initiate care for all injured adults and children. This means we offer 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgeons and specialists in emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, radiology and critical care. Laboratory and radiology services are also available 24/7.

Our Emergency Department has been named as an "Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics" (EDAP) by the State of Illinois. This designation confirms that we are trained and equipped to care for children of all ages. Members of our nursing staff are also trained and certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and offer you the highest level of efficient, yet compassionate, care.

Fast Track Emergency Care

Located in our Emergency Department, our Fast Track ER is designed to provide quick access to hospital emergency room services to children and adults with minor illnesses and injuries. For minor cases that require ER intervention, our goal is to have you treated and on your way in less than 90 minutes.

Available noon to 10 p.m. daily, Fast Track ER care is supported by a full spectrum of hospital services. For more information, call 847/933-6950.
